Cards.Fast vs Mochi

Mochi is lovely. Markdown cards. A quiet app. People who hate Anki’s editor often land there and like it.

I liked it too. I still did not write the cards.

That is the whole comparison. Mochi assumes you will type. Cards.Fast assumes you won’t, so the agent does, and you judge the result in Inbox.

Sign up on app.cards.fast. One deck and a hundred cards are free. Paid is $5 a month or $36 a year. I am not going to quote Mochi’s price. Look at theirs.

Who Mochi is for

Mochi is for people who will write. You open a deck. You type a card in Markdown. You review when the app says so. Sync is there if you pay for it. The files stay readable.

If you like a pretty editor, and you will actually sit down and write atomic cards, Mochi is a good home. It is simpler than Anki. It does not ask you to learn note types. It does not look like 2006.

It still has the empty-deck problem. A new Mochi deck is a blank page with good taste. Taste does not write the cards.

Who Cards.Fast is for

Cards.Fast is for people who already talk to an agent and want that talk to become a deck.

You need an account. You connect ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, Cursor, or Claude Code to https://app.cards.fast/mcp. New cards wait in Inbox. You edit the close ones. You dismiss the rest. Then Today.

The study surface is FSRS-5. Reveal. Again, Hard, Good, Easy. Same quiet loop.

We are not a Markdown notebook with a review button stapled on. We are a study app with an inbox, on purpose. The writing happens in the agent. The judgment happens in Inbox.

Start with an agent is the how.

Markdown, both ways

Mochi was early to “the card is a file.” We agree with that. A card you cannot read is a card you do not own.

Cards.Fast cards are small Markdown. You can export to Mochi, and also to Anki, CSV, or Markdown. If you try us and miss Mochi’s editor, leave with a file they can open.

We do not import a Mochi package. Export is the way out, not the way in.

Do not expect every Mochi trick (every embed, every exact style) to survive a round trip. Export is honest, not magical.

Agents

Mochi can sit next to an agent if you paste. Cards.Fast is built so the agent has a server. Hosted MCP. Inbox default. The agent does not get to make a card due without you.

If you already write beautiful Mochi cards and you like that loop, stay. We are not here to talk you out of a tool you use.

What we will not claim

We will not say Cards.Fast is a prettier Mochi. Their editor is the point of their app. Ours is not an editor you linger in.

We will not say Markdown means the same workflow. In Mochi you write in the app. Here you write in the agent, then you judge in Inbox.

If you already open Mochi every day and write a few cards, you do not have the empty-deck problem. Stay.

When to pick which

Pick Mochi if you want a Markdown SRS you will author by hand, and you like their app.

Pick Cards.Fast if you want the author to be an agent, and you want a human inbox before review.

Pick Anki if you need the deep editor and add-ons. That essay is Cards.Fast vs Anki.
